Oooooh, yes, now comes my favorite part- the Engagement Session! Once we have completed chapter two, we will begin the planning phase for your engagement session. Engagement sessions are amazing because it’s just you, your partner, and me (and maybe a fur baby and a friend).
Why are engagement sessions important? I have a whole article delving into that. In short, you should know what to expect photo-wise when the wedding day comes around. Most people don’t get professional pictures done outside of senior sessions or the occasional family session. I’ve been on the other side of the camera, and I understand how poses can feel awkward and how nervous it can be on that side of the lens. It’s excellent practice for you both. Plus, you need nice photos of yourselves outside of the wedding day.
The engagement session included in both my packages is 90 minutes long. I always say plan for two hours, but we’ll get to that when it comes time to plan the session. In those 90 minutes, that’s plenty of time for at least 2-3 outfits and up to two locations. That gives you a variety of looks, both casual and dressy.
On top of that, I always recommend my couples do professional hair and makeup. It’s the perfect time to give your hair and makeup artist a test run before showtime.
After we are done, I suggest a date night since you’re both dressed to the nines. I always share some sneak peeks on social within 48 hours of the session, and then in a few weeks, you get your full gallery back. Those galleries are yours to keep forever and share. From there, you can order save the dates, thank you cards, holiday cards, acrylic blocks, and so much more. Be sure to “love” your favorites. You never know what good things could come out of it. 😉
In other articles, I go over things like props, styling, and other engagement preparation. Check them out! Once the engagement photos are all said and done, onto chapter four!
